Salem bridge walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
This walk is on the long-awaited new bridge from downtown Salem to Minto-Brown Island Park and through the park which is a paradise for waterfowl and wildlife.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 3 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Salem to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Salem on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9:15 a.m. at the start point, the Riverfront Park, 200 Water Street NE in Salem. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the park anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
