St. Patrick's Day Teddy Bear walk
6 km. (3.7 miles) or 10 km (6.2 miles), both rated moderately easy.
This hosted walk is in the Cedar Hills area west of Portland. It first goes through the northwest part of Bethany, then returns on the Powerline Trail and the Rock Creek Regional Trail; some stairs are involved. At this event, you may contribute new or gently used teddy bears to be distributed by the Sheriff's Department to children in stressful situations.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 4:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in the area to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Cedar Hills on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 10 a.m. at the start point, the Subway Restaurant at 18365 NW West Union Road (Portland), Space F. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the Subway anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
