Springfield Art and Mill Race Walk
10 km. (6.2 miles), rated easy.
This multi-faceted walk goes through Springfield's downtown, where there are dozens of exceptionally well done murals and interesting storefronts, then across the main-line railroad tracks and onto a new pedestrian/bike path along the former mill race. The mill race path passes through wide pastoral fields and a small amount of forest and by two working mills and one former mill converted to other uses. The walk is very interesting.
Registration and start point for the walk are at the Springfield Utility Board offices at 223 A Street in downtown Springfield. Register and start anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available here.
The walk is free unless International Volkssport Credit is desired (information available when you register).
