Albany Carousels Across America walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
This walk has two major attractions:
1) the recently completed beautiful Albany Carousel, where you'll receive free ride tokens, and
2) the marvelous historic areas near downtown Albany (this writer considers them the best in Oregon).
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8:30 a.m. and return there about 2:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Albany to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Albany on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9:30 a.m. at the start point, the New Carousel Building, at 503 West 1st Avenue in Albany. Or, they may choose to walk on their own from the carousel building, starting anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
Directions to the carousel building, and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 4/27. Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be obtained by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page and following the prompts. The National Events page also has a link to Volkswalks in Canada and 40 other countries (click on "About Us" and "IVV Website").
