Keizer - Schreiner's Iris Garden Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy, through farm fields and a grassy area.
This one-day-a-year event, where we can walk through the iris fields, coincides with the Keizer Iris Festival. In addition to the iris fields, we also walk through the 10-acre Display Garden, full of a variety of flowering plants and trees, truly a beautiful place.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 3 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. After the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Salem or Albany to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Keizer on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9:30 a.m. at the start point, which is the Schreiners's Iris Garden, 3625 Quinaby Road NE, Keizer. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting at the Garden anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
