Portland - Hosted Rose Festival Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
This is Rose Parade Day in Portland. This walk crosses the Burnside Bridge, which is a great place to watch the parade. Several other events will be happening along the route, including the Dragon Boat Races, visiting U.S. Navy vessels, the City Fair (food and rides), and the famous Saturday Market.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 7:30 a.m. to arrive at a good time for the parade. They return to Springfield about 5 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, food will be available at the start/finish point for those not eating at the City Fair.
People traveling to Portland on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 10 a.m. at the start point, the Rogue Eastside Pub at 928 SE 9th Avenue in Portland (on the east side of the river). Or, they may choose to do the walk on their own, starting from the pub anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Directions to the Eastside Pub. and further details of this walk can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 6/8.
