Portland - Daryl Pulley Commemorative Walk
6 km. (3.7 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
Daryl Pulley was an enthusiastic promoter and organizer of Volkssports events throughout the Northwest for many years. He served as Northwest Regional Director of the American Volkssport Association for an extended period. This commemorative walk includes some of his favorite Portland areas, among them downtown Portland, Pioneer Place, and River Place Marina, along with other Portland highlights. The walk passes a bench in River Place Marina which has been dedicated in his memory.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 4:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Portland or on the the way home to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Portland on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 10:30 a.m. at the start point, the Good Samaritan Hospital Building 2, across the street from the main hospital building at 1040 NW 22nd Avenue in Portland. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the hospital anytime between 9 a.m. and noon (parking is available at Building 2).
Directions to the hospital, and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 7/6.
