5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
The Mossbacks will sponsor a "Kalapuya Talking Stones" walk in Alton Baker Park on October 10. Fourteen stones are now in place, and in addition, the walk will feature the canoe canal, the Willamette River Greenway paths, and the new I-5 bridge over the Willamette.
Today, we will walk both routes, checking for distance and for clarity of directions. Because there is usually some stopping to edit directions and to perhaps try an alternate section of route, the check walk takes much longer than an ordinary Volkswalk.
If you would like to help, join us at 8 a.m. at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield (we'll proceed to the park from there). We should be finished by noon, at which time those who want will choose a restaurant to have lunch together.
To get further details on the walk, click on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scroll down to 10/10. Alternately, to get the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States, click on the "National Events" bar and follow the prompts.
