On April 9th, the Mossbacks will sponsor a walk through the West Eugene Wetlands area, starting at the WREN (Wetlands Resources Education Network) building at 751 Danebo Avenue. In preparation, we must measure the anticipated route and make changes where necessary to conform to the distances we've set. This usually requires more time to walk than a "finished" route. The wetlands, under Bureau of Land Management supervision, has several interesting areas with waterfowl, raptors, and other wildlife.
Carpools will leave the Valley River Inn, 1000 Valley River Way, at 9 a.m. and return there probably between noon and 1 p.m. At that time, some of the "measurers" may decide to have lunch together at one of the Valley River restaurants; this is purely optional, of course.
People traveling to the wetlands on their own should plan to meet the group at about 9:15 a.m. at the WREN parking lot. Specific directions to this start point, and further details on the walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 4/9. Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be obtained by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and following the prompts.
