5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), rated easy.
Today's walk through picturesque Portland neighborhoods and parks will highlight statues and memorials to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rose Parks.
Carpools will leave the Willamette Adult Activities Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 5 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. After the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Portland to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to the walk on their own should plan to meet the group at about 10:15 a.m. at the start point, the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center at 2801 Gatenbein Avenue in Portland (near the Convention Center). Use the Graham Street entrance to the lobby. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the hospital anytime between 8a.m. and 1 p.m.
Directions to Emanuel Medical Center, along with further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 1/16.
