This walk is through the interesting and historic small town of Brownsville. The walk goes through the pleasant downtown and the extensive Pioneer Park. Optional visits to the Linn County Museum (in railroad cars) and the historic Moyer House are possible. The 13 km. route (3 km. extension to the 10 km. route) goes out of town to an interesting Pioneer Cemetery.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 1:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers may choose a restaurant to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Brownsville on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 8:45 a.m. at the start point, the Brownsville Chevron Station at 203 West Bishop Way, Brownsville. Directions to this Chevron, and further details about this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scrolling down to "Brownsville - Historic". Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be obtained by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and following the prompts.
