5 km. (3.1 miles) or 11 km. (6.8 miles), both rated easy.
Today's walk, hosted by the Mossbacks, explores the West Eugene Wetlands, a large area administered by the Bureau of Land Management. The walk is on wide paved trails through the wetlands and on a smooth gravel wetland environmental trail. Many waterfowl, raptors, and other wildlife may be observed on the trails, and there are many environmental exhibits at the start/finish point.
Walkers can begin anytime between 8 a.m. and noon by registering at the Willamette Resources Education Network (WREN) building at 751 South Danebo Avenue in west Eugene. There is no charge for the walk, unless credit in the American Volkssport Association Achievement Program is desired. Coffee and baked goods will be available for a donation at this registration point.
Directions to the start point (from I-5), and further details about the walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then scrolling down to 4/9. Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be found by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and following the prompts.
