13 June 2016
Title Time Description
Waterloo, Oregon, walk 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM 5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated moderately easy.

The Waterloo County Campground is located between Albany and Lebanon, along the South Santiam River. Today's Volkswalk is part of a two day "Find Big Foot" event there. The walks go through both the campground and the small town of Waterloo. Be sure to carry water.

Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 7 a.m. and return there about 1:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. For lunch, the carpoolers may opt for the barbeque in the park or they may decide to go to a restaurant in Albany; whatever the group decides, each person can still make their own lunch arrangements.

People traveling to Waterloo on their own should plan to meet the group at about 8 a.m. at the start point in the Waterloo Linn County Campground, 39510 Gross Street (post office Waterloo, OR). Or, they may choose to do the walk on their own, starting anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Directions to the campground, and further details on this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events: bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to 8/6. Philomath walk 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM 5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.

Today's walk has two 5 km. routes; choose one or both. They are on sidewalks and boardwalks through two city parks and business and residential areas. The event is named the Applegate Trail and Ann Rhodes Walk, in honor of a former Volkssporter.

Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 1:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Philomath or Corvallis to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.

People traveling to Philomath on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9:15 a.m. at the start point, the Philomath City Park at 299 South 23rd Street in Philomath. Or, they may choose to do the walk on their own, starting from the city park anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
