The beautiful paved Middle Fork Trail between Clearwater Park and the Dorris Ranch in Springfield is 13 km. (8 miles) long. Usually, the "work party" is split into two groups, so that each group cleans up half (6.5 km., 4 miles) of the trail (but of course must retrace their steps to their start point). The time spent picking up litter, at a slow to moderate pace, is relaxing and enjoyable alongside the rushing Willamette River and Willamette Confluence and across from Mount Pisgah.
Willamalane Park and Recreation District provides "grabbers" to pick up the litter, and garbage bags and buckets to deposit it. All the "worker" needs provide is good work gloves and a cheerful heart.
We'll meet at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 9 a.m. to form into "work parties" and decide on logistics. After finishing (usually before noontime), some of the "workers" may decide to have lunch together at a Springfield restaurant; purely optional, of course.
Come enjoy a pleasant morning along the river! The more the merrier (and the less "work").
