Eugene - Roses and History Year Round Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) rated easy, or 10 km. (6.2 miles) rated moderately easy.
From the Valley River Inn, this walk crosses and follows the Willamette River to the Owen Rose Garden, then to the historic Shelton-McMurphy House, up steps and trail to the summit of Skinner Butte (on the 10 km. route), then to the Campbell Community Center, and back along the river to an innovative children's playground, a replica of Eugene Skinner's cabin, and to the bridge to cross the river back to the Inn.
We will meet in the lobby of the Valley River Inn, 1000 Valley River Way in Eugene, at 9 a.m. to register and start the walk. Following the walk, some of the walkers may choose to have lunch together in one of the nearby restaurants; this is purely optional, of course.
Directions to the Valley River Inn (from I-5), and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Year Round Events" bar at the top left of this page and scrolling down to "Eugene - Roses and History". Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be obtained by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and following the prompts. The National Events page also has a link to Volkswalks in Canada and 39 other countries (click on "About Us" and "IVV Website").
