Carpool to Milwaukie, Oregon, Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
Milwaukie is commemorating the end of the Vietnam War 50 years ago by having a parade, a "Moving Wall" replica, and other special events today. The walk will include these events, the riverfront and Elk Park.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 7 a.m. and return there about 3:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Milwaukie on their own should plan to meet the group between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m. at the start point, the Elks Lodge at 13121 SE McLoughlin Boulevard in Milwaukie. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the Elks Lodge anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Directions to the Elks Lodge, and further details on this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then scrolling down to 7/25.
