Yachats Amanda's Statue Year Round Walk
10 km. (6.2 miles), rated easy.
This beautiful walk leads from the Pacific Ocean (on the 804 Trail), past the State Park ocean view area, along the edge of downtown to the Oregon Coast Trail, into forested hills above the highway (with magnificent ocean views), then into deep forest and along a creek to view Amanda's Statue (with a descriptive story). The return from the statue is through the forest and into downtown Yachats. This is a very beautiful year-round walk.
Those people wanting to carpool can meet at Valley River Inn, 1000 Valley River Way in Eugene, at 7 a.m. (carpools leave a few minutes past seven). Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Yachats or Florence to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker. Return to Eugene will be about 3:30 p.m.
People driving to Yachats on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9 a.m. at the start point, the Overleaf Lodge at 280 Overleaf Lane at the north end of Yachats (west side of highway 101).
More complete directions to the Overleaf, and further details on this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scrolling down to "Yachats - Amanda's Statue".
