UO/Hendricks Park year round walk
6 km. (3.7 miles), rated easy, or 11 km. (6.8 miles), rated moderately easy.
This original, and most popular, of the Mossbacks' year round walks, leads past a community garden, an amphitheater, an arboretum, and the University of Oregon football stadium before crossing the Willamette River on a footbridge to reach the University campus. After a short route through campus, the 5 km. walk passes through a research park to again cross the Willamette and return along its banks to the start point.
The 10 km. route extends beyond the University campus to go through neighborhoods to Hendricks Park with its extensive rhododendron garden. A long gradual hill leads to the park, giving this route its "moderately easy" rating. After visiting the rhododendron garden and a woodsy area of the park, the 10 km. route returns through neighborhoods to the University, providing a more extensive view of the campus. The 10 km. route then follows the 5 km. route along the Willamette River back to the start point.
