Shotgun Creek hosted walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated moderately easy on forest paths.
Walk on natural hiking trails through BLM forest at the foot of the Cascades. Enjoy native evergreen and deciduous plants and trees. The park has 20 developed acres, which include picnic shelters, restrooms, a large grassy play area and a small swimming hole. The remaining 240 acres are in their natural forested state to enjoy on today's walk.
Sturdy footwear is advisable as there may be some muddy spots where springs cross the trail. Also, walking sticks may be advisable for those accustomed to them.
Dogs are permitted, but must be on leash and cleaned up after.
Picnic tables are available; participants may bring their own food or may purchase a $5 lunch, provided by the Mossbacks Club, consisting of grilled hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips, soda and fruit (while supplies last).
We invite walkers of all abilities, especially families, to enjoy this walk in a very beautiful area. Children participating will receive a special Passport for a Nature Adventure.
Register and start walking anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. from Picnic Shelter #1 in the park. Please finish by 4 p.m.
