Canby Dahlia walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
These walks allow you to stroll along the many rows of dahlias at the Swan Island Dahlia Farms, a major supplier. A portion of the farm is a very lovely demonstration garden. Also included in the walk are pleasant rural and residential areas in and around Canby. This year's walk is dedicated to Marge Berjeron, a much-loved avid Volkswalker.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 7:30 a.m. and return there about 3:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Canby on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9 a.m. at the start point, the Swan Island Dahlia Farms at 995 NW 22nd Avenue at the edge of Canby. Or, they may do the walk on their own, starting from the dahlia farms anytime between 8 a.m. and noon.
