Portland Heart Breaker Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) rated easy, or 11 km. (6.8 mies) rated moderate.
The 11 km. route is on sidewalks, paths, trails, and many steps (1,000?) to explore northwest Portland's many historic homes and Washington Park. The 5 km. route avoids most of the steps.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 5 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $10 to help cover car expenses. After the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Portland to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Portland on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 10:15 a.m. at the start point, the Good Samaritan Hospital Building 2 (across the street from the main hospital), 1040 NW 22nd Avenue in Portland. Or, they may choose to do the walk on their own, starting from the hospital anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
