Corvallis - Peavy Arboretum and Forest Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) rated moderately easy, or 10 km. (6.2 miles) rated moderate
This walk is in shaded areas of Peavy Arboretum and McDonald research forest, parts of Oregon State University's Forestry program. It is a popular recreation area for its many miles of trails. While the 5 km. route stays relatively low on the mountainside, the 10 km. climbs to the top for some wonderful views.
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center. 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 3 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Corvallis to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Corvallis on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers between 8:45 and 9 a.m. at the Peavy Arboretum, 5800 Hwy. 99W, Corvallis (watch for signs at Peavy Arboretum Road a few miles north of Corvallis). Explicit directions to the arboretum, and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scrolling down to "Corvallis - Peavy Arboretum and McDonald Forest".
