Brownsville Historic Year Round Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles), 10 km. (6.2 miles), or 13 km. (8 miles), all rated moderately easy.
This walk visits the charming historic downtown, Pioneer Park, the Linn County Museum (in two train cars), and the Moyer House (open on selected days). The longer 13 km. option goes to the Pioneer Cemetery east of town.
Carpools leave from the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 1:30 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers may choose a restaurant to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Brownsville on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 8:30 a.m. at the start point, the Brownsville Chevron Station, 203 West Bishop Way (Hwy. 228), Brownsville. Directions to the Chevron Station, and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scrolling down to "Brownsville - Historic".
