Canby - Dahlias Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), both rated easy.
An annual event, the Dahlia Walk takes Volkssporters through large dahlia fields (hundreds of varieties) and through the spectacular demonstration garden. The walk continues through surrounding farm areas, residential areas, and parks. Bring your cameras!
Carpools will leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 4 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers will probably choose a restaurant in Canby or on the way home to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Canby on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at about 9:45 a.m. at the start point, the Swan Island Dahlia Farms at 995 NW 22nd Street at the edge of Canby. Or, they may choose to do the walk on their own, starting from the Dahlia Farms anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
